Product Care Guide

Soil Bound artwork incorporates natural and organic materials, making each work inherently unique and delicate. Avoid frequent handling of your artwork as oils from your hands can leave residue on glass, bone, or other delicate materials.

To preserve the integrity and longevity of your artwork:

  • Keep out of direct sunlight
  • Store and display in a dry environment
  • Avoid excessive heat and any humidity

For pieces containing dried florals or organic elements:

  • Natural color changes and soft fading may occur over time
  • Exposure to direct light or humidity will significantly accelerate this process

Humidity can also impact preserved specimens over time, encouraging mold growth or causing delicate elements such as wings or florals to shift or close. Avoid displaying pieces in bathrooms, near plants, or in areas where moisture tends to build.

Please note that glass domes are not sealed prior to arrival. Always lift domes from the base rather than the glass.

Upon arrival of your artwork, designs containing dried florals may have tiny clear beads on the inside of the glass. These are remnants of the drying process used to preserve the florals. Gently tap on the glass to allow the beads to resettle at the base, where they will remain largely unnoticed.

If needed, you may carefully remove the glass to clean the interior. Use extreme caution to avoid disturbing any preserved insects, florals, or materials inside.

When cleaning, avoid paper towels, as they may scratch the surface of the glass. Instead use a microfiber cloth or soft duster for light cleaning

For a deeper clean, gently wash the glass with warm soapy water or a gentle glass cleaner, however it is necessary to ensure the glass is completely dry before placing it back over the piece to avoid humidity.

All glass designs can be sealed with a silicone adhesive. If you live in a humid environment or would like added protection, applying a thin layer of liquid silicone around the base is recommended to help prevent humidity or pests from entering the piece.

If you notice any signs of pests in the future, place the item in a sealed bag (double-bagged) and freeze for a minimum of seventy-two hours, though one to two weeks is recommended to ensure full resolution.

A note on skull pieces with an attached jaw:

While some jaw pieces may open when gently pried, they are not designed for repeated opening and closing. Adhesives may naturally wear over time if manipulated frequently, and jaw components may loosen or separate as a result. These pieces are intended for display rather than interaction.
